EyeMed Vision Care Plan provides affordable, quality vision care, nationwide. Through EyeMed Vision Care Plan provider network, you will receive a complete eye examination, as well as materials (if needed). The employee pays for this benefit. Providers’ customer service 1-800-521-3605. Coverage can be verified with SS # or name and DOB.
Please keep in mind that EyeMed Vision Care Plan is an alternative vision program that is not covered under the Health Select plan. Davis Vision Discount Program and EyeMed Vision Care Plan are independent plans and the benefits do not run concurrently.
Direct Payroll Deposit
As a cost saving measure, salaries are deposited directly into employees' accounts at banks, savings and loans, or credit unions if the financial institution is a member of the Southwestern Automated Clearing House Association. An employee must authorize the direct deposit or claim exemption from the deposit. Forms for either action are available in the Payroll Office.
Education Assistance
All full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Part-time employees who have completed a full twelve months of consecutive employment with the district are eligible. All Lone Star College System for-credit courses are reimbursable under this policy. Continuing education classes that have been approved by the employee's supervisor may also be reimbursed. The district will reimburse 100% of the tuition and up to $100 for required related fees for eligible courses taken at Lone Star College System, up to a maximum reimbursement of six (6) credit hours per term, not to exceed 18 hours in any year.

Pre-paid Legal Casualty offers you affordable access to an attorney. The Pre-paid Legal Casualty plan is designed to give you and your family affordable access to legal services for your personal and work life. It is your benefit of protection against countless legal matters. The premium is $14.95 per month and is paid by the employee.
Short Term Disability
The district provides short-term disability to all full time employees of the district at no charge. All sick leave, compensatory time and vacation must be exhausted prior to applying for short-term disability. A doctor’s written notice is required. Monthly disability payments are equal to 60 percent of the employee’s monthly salary up to 90 calendar days. The employee is allowed to apply for short-term disability one time per year.
United States Savings Bonds
United States Savings Bonds may be purchased through payroll deductions. To participate, the payroll deduction authorization must be completed and forwarded to the Payroll Office. When sufficient funds are accumulated in the account, a bond will be purchased and mailed to the employee's home address. Participation may be changed or discontinued at any time.
Wellness Program
This benefit allows employees the opportunity of an exercise program at no cost. For more information, contact your campus Wellness Coordinator.
Worker's Compensation
Lone Star College System has workers' compensation insurance coverage from Texas Political Subdivisions Joint Self-Insurance Funds to protect you in the event you are injured on the job. You can get more information about your workers' compensation rights from any office of the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission, or by calling 1-800-252-7031.
“You may elect to retain your common law right of action if, no later than five days after beginning employment, you notify Lone Star College System in writing that you wish to retain your common law right to recover damages for personal injury. If you elect your common law right of action, you cannot obtain workers' compensation income or medical benefits if you are injured.”
