Dual Cr/Ex Admit Admission Requirements

In order for students to be eligible for dual credit, the following must be in place:

Students 16 years of age or older must receive approval by the following criteria:

  1. The high school has an agreement with Lone Star College System
  2. The student is currently enrolled in high school
  3. The student meets the requirements for exceptional admissions
  4. The student has approval from high school and parent/guardian

Students younger than 16 years of age must receive approval by the following criteria:

  • Students must meet TSI requirements in the areas that are applicable to the courses that the student wishes to enroll in and have the course prerequisites.
  • Student's parent (or a designated responsible adult) agrees to be available at the campus location to monitor the student's activities outside of class while on a Lone Star College System college campus and to be immediately available in case of an emergency.

In addition to these requirements, students must meet both the TSI/SSI requirement and the college-level placement requirements.

Student can meet the TSI requirement by:

  • Exempt scores based on ACT, SAT, or 10th grade or exit TAKS scores
  • Achieving the minimum passing standard on ASSET, ACCUPLACER. COMPASS, or THEA.

High school counselors or college advisers can assist students in this area.
