COMPASS
Lone Star College–Tomball offers the COMPASS test as an alternative to THEA for students who will be attending our college. The entire test fee is $29. Individual sections (math, writing, reading) of the test are $10. Please bring your receipts to the assessment center.
COMPASS is a computerized placement test covering reading, math and writing (objective and essay) skills. It helps determine your course placement. Students usually take 3 - 4 hours to complete all parts of the exam.
You will receive your scores upon completion of the test. Your test scores will be explained further when you meet with an advisor to select your courses.
Please visit the admissions office to get a referral sheet before taking the test. Bring the referral sheet and a photo ID (drivers license, school ID, etc) to the assessment center in order to take the test. You must know your social security number.
