Definition of CIT Specialist

A Computer Information Technology Specialist is responsible for supporting the rest of a company, utilizing the personal computer as a tool to complete their jobs.  They may install and maintain a PC network, work on a PC software help desk, write programs to maintain company databases, help plan and design new PCs and PC networks, or troubleshoot computing problems as they arise.

Based on a survey of the Greater Houston Area conducted by the Information Technology Staffing Specialists, the starting salary for a technology professional with a two-year degree is between $24,000 and $50,000. Salaries vary depending upon the specific degree, previous work experience, and any industry certifications obtained.
