Math Center Resources

The Lone Star College–Tomball Math Center has videotapes, supplemental textbooks, manipulatives for the hands-on (kinesthetic) learner, graphing calculators, math topic handouts, and computer math programs available for students to use in the Math Center.

• Available for use in the Extended Learning Center
• Useful for hands-on learners
• Geoboards, Patty Paper Geometry, Miras, Cuisinaire Rods, Fraction Circles, Algebra Tiles, Multilink Cubes, and Geoset 3-D are some of the manipulatives available

THEA Resources

• TASP Pretests, correlated to the Official TASP Test Study Guide, are available in the Extended Learning Center in L247.
• Narrated PowerPoint workshop on preparing to take the math portion of the THEA Test
  • CD ROM can be checked out through Lone Star College–Tomball library
  • Computer accessible in math folder of Tutorial Menu at Lone Star College–Tomball
  • Online in Web format (narrated PowerPoint)

Math Placement Testing

• COMPASS Test is given through the Assessment Center
• Arizona Tools helps students assess their readiness for Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Business Calculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III.
• Diagnostic tests over the Prealgebra course content and Elementary Algebra course content are also available in the Math area of the Learning Assistance Center for students who would like to verify their readiness for Elementary Algebra or for Intermediate Algebra.
