Vocal & Instrumental Music Program
The music program at Lone Star College-Tomball is committed to excellence in performance. The program offers opportunities for both music majors and non-music majors.
Students can earn an associate's degree or take classes that will supplement the core curriculum. Credits earned in the program transfer to state universities.

About the Music Program
Quality instruction and state-of-the-art facilities are hallmarks of the Lone Star College-Tomball music program.
Students have access to practice rooms, a piano lab, MIDI lab, ProTools recording studio and a rehearsal/recital hall.
Guest clinicians on campus offer specialized music workshops throughout the year.
In addition to private music lessons and the choir and jazz performing ensembles, Lone Star College-Tomball offers an array
of courses in music theory, electronic music, class guitar, popular song-writing/recording, music appreciation, music fundamentals and music theater.
What type of activities are there?
Choir, jazz ensemble and private music instruction allow you to spend time together with other students, represent your school, and broaden your musical experiences through vocal and instrumental concerts and tours.
- Performing groups remain active throughout the year, with several performances each semester.
- In addition, the groups take tours and participate in musical events around the community.
- Private voice and instrumental students are given opportunities to perform.
Degree Programs
Associate of Arts...Field of Study Curriculum in Music
A collegiate degree related to the baccalaureate degree.
The field of study curricula will satisfy the lower division requirements for a bachelor’s degree in a specific academic area at a general academic teaching institution. Leading to the bachelor of music degree but may also be applied to the bachelor of arts or other baccalaureate-level music degrees as deemed appropriate by the awarding institution.

Applied Music
Private instruction in instruments and voice is available to students majoring or minoring in music and to other students who desire to gain or improve proficiency in voice or some instrument.
Audition and departmental approval required
