How Do I Report A Crime Or Other Emergency?

To report an emergency or a crime, students and faculty should dial, "3333" from any campus telephone to reach the college police directly. To report any other incident that requires police assistance, please dial "3633" from campus telephones to reach dispatch for the college police.

How Will The Police Officers Respond?

A college police officer responds to all calls for service and will investigate and report all incidents that occur. The nature of the incident will dictate which resources will be used to respond to that incident. If the incident involves a criminal complaint, the appropriate charges will be filed by the investigating officer.

Who Is Allowed Access To Campus Facilities?

The  Lone Star College–Tomball campus is open to enrolled students, faculty and members of the community who are participating in an organized activity or event. Police officers or college personnel may request presentation of a  Lone Star College–Tomball student ID, a state-issued identification or a Texas drivers license. The Texas Education Code allows authorized TC personnel to refuse campus access to individuals who are not taking part in an organized activity or other campus business. College personnel reserve the right to ask individuals to peaceably leave campus. There are TC police on duty 24 hours a day.

Who Are The College Police?

The police officers of the Lone Star College System Police Department are commissioned Peace Officers with the State of Texas and are granted the same law enforcement authority as any other police or sheriff's department. The officers are obligated to enforce all federal, state and local laws, in addition to college district policies. The  Lone Star College–Tomball police department works with state and local police agencies, as needed, to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors to the college.

Does TC offer other Safety Assistance?

College police officers offer informal advice and assistance to students and staff. In fact, anyone who wishes a police escort should dial the campus operator to request one. The next available officer will be happy to oblige. TC has a campus safety committee which each year addresses issues of concern.

Can Alcohol Be Consumed On Campus?

Tomball College is committed to maintaining an educational environment which is free from illicit narcotics and alcohol. The possession, sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on facilities owned, operated or controlled by the Lone Star College System. It is also a violation of Texas state law for any individual younger than 21 years of age to possess or otherwise consume any alcoholic beverage. Violations of these provisions are subject to arrest and/or disciplinary action.

Likewise, narcotics are prohibited. In compliance with the requirements of the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, the possession, use or sale of illicit narcotics will not be tolerated on any facilities owned, operated or controlled by Lone Star College System. Any individual or group found to be in violation of federal, state or local laws concerning the unlawful possession, use or distribution of illicit narcotics or narcotics paraphernalia will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and subjected to appropriate disciplinary or administrative action.

TC supports federal guidelines that reflect the need of students, faculty, staff and visitors to be aware of campus crime. In fact, the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 directs institutions of higher education to collect, prepare and publish information on certain campus crime statistics and security policies. Information on arrests for certain campus crimes are also made available in written form as part of this report.
