Assessment Fall Forum JULY 10, 2007 PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE  November 2, 2007 at the College of the Holy Cross  On behalf of NEEAN it is my pleasure to send you this Call for Proposals for our Fall 2007 Assessment Forum. I hope you will consider submitting a proposal and that you will also forward the information to others on your campus who might be interested. We do expect a large number of proposals, so please note the July 10, 2007, submission date.  The theme for the New England Educational Assessment Network (NEEAN) Fall Forum is "Telling Our Assessment Story: The Who, Why, and How of Implementing and Reporting Assessment." This year's theme recognizes that many New England colleges and universities have established procedures for assessing student learning and are now putting their plans into action. We invite you and your colleagues to share your experiences from assessment planning to implementation, your achievements and concerns, and how you have used assessment results to tell your institutional story to various constituencies.  The Call for Proposals offers an opportunity to engage in dialogue, to share findings, and to exchange instruments and materials. Details of the CFP can be accessed through the NEEAN website at http://www.neean.org/ by clicking on the blue highlighted “Call for Proposals due July 10” for the Adobe Acrobat document.  Please contact G. Earl Peace. NEEAN Program Director, at epeace@holycross.edu if you have any questions.
Call for Proposals: AAC&U's Annual Meeting  Intentional Learning, Unscripted Challenges:Knowledge and Imagination for an Interdependent World January 23-26, 2008 Washington, DC  The Association of American Colleges and Universities invites you and your colleagues to submit a proposal for our 2008 Annual Meeting -- "Intentional Learning, Unscripted Challenges: Knowledge and Imagination for an Interdependent World." Proposals can be submitted online through July 23, 2007. Please see www.aacu.org/meetings/annualmeeting for complete information.  About the Conference  AAC&U's 2007 report, College Learning for the New Global Century, poses several fundamental questions:  * What do college graduates need to know and be able to do to thrive in an unpredictable future? * How can institutions demonstrate that students are actually achieving the kinds of learning they need for life, work, and citizenship?* How are institutions structured -- internally and externally -- to build real-world capabilities that empower students to apply their knowledge to complex real-world challenges?  Collectively, these questions underscore the need for a renewed sense of clear purpose, across the curriculum and co-curriculum. Participants at AAC&U's 2008 annual meeting will explore innovative and imaginative strategies and structures for college learning -- purposeful pathways that clearly and intentionally connect wide-ranging knowledge of science, cultures, and society; high-level intellectual and practical skills; active commitment to personal and social responsibility; and demonstrated ability to apply learning to complex problems and challenges. Participants will also explore the role of assessment in measuring achievement of essential outcomes and in providing useful data to ensure that all students get the education they need and deserve in today's world.  If you would like additional information about the Call for the Proposals or the Annual Meeting, please e-mail hyers@aacu.org or call us at 202-387-3760.
