The A+ Certification Training Program prepares individuals for a career as a computer service technician in the PC industry. This course covers the various responsibilities and tasks required for a PC Computer Service Technician to successfully perform in a customer environment. Topics include basic software and operating concepts and builds to complex hardware topics. The program is intended for individuals who are not currently employed in the PC industry and who possess no PC knowledge or skills. To obtain this industry certification sponsored by CompTIA requires the passing of two exams.

Successful completion of this program will enable students to:

  • Discuss the history of the PC industry
  • Describe A+ Certification and its importance in the industry
  • Discuss the role of the PC service technician
  • Identify PC manufacturers and dealers
  • Understand DOS commands, editor, installation procedures and memory management
  • Understand the Windows environment, installation procedures and memory management
  • Describe the PC architecture
  • Understand and work with various hardware components, such as the CPU, buses, memory, hard disk, CD-ROM and modems
  • Troubleshoot PC hardware and software problems
