Certified Professional Secretary
About the course
Certified Professional Secretary courses offered at Lone Star College–Tomball are designed as refresher classes for individuals planning to take the CPS exam to attain the CPS rating. Class curriculum is based on the CPS Examination Review Series published by Prentice Hall. The review is designed specifically for professionals who wish to apply knowledge and skills gained in their field to professional certification. Registrants should have previous knowledge of the topics covered – this course reviews the subjects included in the CPS exam and gives you an opportunity to ask questions of an expert in the field.
About the exam
The CPS exam is administered twice a year-the first Saturday of May and November each year (exam sites are at the Texas School of Business, Houston Community College and other venues).
CPS requirements
To attain the CPS rating, a candidate must meet a combination of educational and work experience requirements. Note: Individuals presently holding the CPS Certification only have to take Part IV to obtain the Certified Assistant Professional.
Eligibility
Full-time employed secretaries and administrative assistants, college and university students as well as business educators are eligible to enroll in the CPS program.
