According to the Lone Star College System catalog’s statement of Academic Accountability, Academic Warning occurs the first time a student earns a semester GPA of less than a 2.0. Semester GPA does include both developmental and college credit coursework.
You can confirm your semester and cumulative GPA by visiting the My Records (http://www.lonestar.edu) web site or by obtaining an Advising Profile from the Admissions office of any Lone Star College System college.
Students who have experienced a low semester GPA for the first time may want and/or need to take advantage of the many college resources that are available on each campus and are encouraged to establish contact with their college counseling center for additional support and assistance.
At Lone Star College–Tomball, the Student Life Department has established a program of assistance and intervention for any student on Academic Warning, Probation or Suspension. The program, PASS (Providing Academic Support for Students) has proven to be a valuable tool in assisting students as they move toward their academic goals.
The first step in entering the PASS program includes attendance at one of the PASS information meetings. By attending one of these meetings, students will receive a host of information on topics such as setting academic goals, choosing a major, time management, college resources and study strategies.
Remember, once a student is on Academic Warning, he/she must earn at least a 2.0 semester GPA each semester in order to avoid a probation status. Thus, involvement in the PASS program and/or making an individual appointment with an academic counselor is strongly encouraged.
A list of upcoming PASS meetings can be found by clicking here or you can contact us for your individual consultation.
